In tonight’s episode of Coronation Street, Billy Mayhew begins to suspect that Theo Silverton is abusive toward his partner Todd Grimshaw after months of worrying behaviour.
For a long time, Theo has managed to hide his darker side from Todd’s family and friends despite abusing Todd behind closed doors. Even when concerns were raised, people tended to dismiss them — at one point, some even thought Todd might be the one being abusive.
However, during a joint birthday party, Theo’s behaviour becomes more revealing. After accusing Todd of flirting and luring him out under false pretences, he abandons Todd far from the party without his phone, forcing him to walk home alone in the cold.
Billy notices Todd’s absence and becomes alarmed when Theo returns alone, claiming Todd has gone to lie down. His suspicions grow stronger, especially when Todd’s phone is missing and Theo insists it wasn’t needed.
Billy eventually finds Todd walking alone in the rain, soaking wet. Although Todd quickly makes excuses and defends Theo, it’s clear to Billy that something is seriously wrong.
According to next episode spoilers, at a New Year’s Eve gathering with Christina, George, Summer and Billy at the Rovers Return, Todd will make a major decision about his future with Theo — potentially with Billy’s encouragement.
