Kody Brown has been sharing his life with television viewers for more than 15 years, but he’s now being exposed to an entirely new audience on Season 4 of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. The Sister Wives star is one of six recruits left hoping to complete a selection course that mimics the real training of the United States Special Forces.
Over the years, Sister Wives fans have watched Kody navigate his polygamous lifestyle. At one point, he had four wives, but after three divorces between the years of 2021 and 2023, he’s now in a monogamous relationship with his wife, Robyn Brown. How did Kody and Robyn Brown meet?
Kody and Robyn met in 2009 at a gathering hosted by her cousin. Kody and his then-wife Meri Brown, whom he was legally married to at the time, attended the event and began courting Robyn to join their family.
The first season of Sister Wives aired in 2010 and featured Robyn being integrated into the Brown family. At the time, in addition to his legal marriage to Meri, Kody was also spiritually married to Janelle Brown and Christine Brown.
In 2014, Kody and Meri divorced (although they stayed in a spiritual marriage) so he could marry Robyn and adopt her children. They tied the knot on December 11, 2014. Kody and Robyn currently live in Flagstaff, Arizona.
What does Robyn Brown do for a living?
Robyn’s primary job is filming for the show Sister Wives. “Robyn is a stay-at-home married mother with a husband who is a stay-at-home father and stay-at-home husband, and both of them film every other week,” Kody’s son Paedon Brown said in a 2023 YouTube video.
Robyn also helps run the company My Sisterwife’s Closet, an “online jewelry and clothing line boutique.” However, the store is currently being “updated,” per its website. “I’m not saying she didn’t put work into it,” Paedon said. “She did put work into it, she did try. But then it failed – hard and bad.”
Robyn was reportedly in $32,000 credit card debt when she joined the Brown family.
Do Kody and Robyn Brown have kids?
Yes, Kody and Robyn have two children together. Their son, Solomon, was born in 2011, followed by daughter Ariella in January 2016. Kody also adopted Robyn’s son, Dayton, and daughters Aurora and Breanna from a previous relationship.
Additionally, there are 13 other children in the Brown family. With Meri, Kody has a child named Leon. He also has six children with Janelle (Logan, Madison, Hunter, Garrison, who died in 2024, Gabe, and Savannah) and six children with Christine (Aspyn, Mykelti, Paedon, Gwendlyn, Ysabel, and Truely).
Kody is estranged from most of the children he does not share with Robyn.
What happened to Kody’s other wives?
Meri was Kody’s first wife. The exes met through his sister at church. They married in 1990 and were together until January 2023, although their relationship was strained for nearly a decade before the actual divorce.
Kody has cited Meri’s 2015 catfishing scandal as the catalyst for their issues. She struck up a relationship with someone online whom she believed was a man, only to later find out she had actually been talking to a woman faking her identity the whole time. Kody felt this incident broke the trust he had in Meri, which is why he started treating her poorly.

Meri said that her ideas about plural marriage changed over time. “When you’re 20, 21, 25, 30, whatever, when this is happening, you’re not grown up enough,” she told People in 2023. “You think you are, but you’re really not grown up enough sometimes. Or maybe it’s more not that you’re grown up enough, but more that you just don’t have the tools in your tool belt to know how to deal with some of these issues.” She admittedly struggled with jealousy in the marriage. Meri now lives in Utah.
In 1993, Kody married his second wife, Janelle Brown. She joined the family after divorcing Meri’s brother. Janelle ended her relationship with Kody at the end of 2022 amid his issues with their children. The COVID-19 pandemic put a strain on Kody’s relationship with his kids, particularly sons Garrison and Gabe. In the end, Janelle chose her kids over Kody, and she has since relocated to North Carolina.
Christine joined the family in 1994. She met Kody and Meri through her sister and they became friends before the romantic relationship began. Christine was the first wife to end her marriage to Kody in 2021. Her decision came after years of not feeling like she was desired by her husband, in addition to his apparent favoritism of Robyn and her kids. Christine now lives in Utah and is married to her new husband, David Woolley.
