Virgin River fans have been anxiously waiting for updates on the show’s upcoming seventh season. Now that it’s been more than one year since all 10 episodes from Season 6 were released, Netflix has finally revealed when we’re getting more.
There were plenty of cliffhangers at the end of Season 6, which means there’s a lot of story to still be told when the show returns in 2026. On January 7, Netflix confirmed the premiere date and shared a first look photo (above). Scroll down for all the info.
When is Virgin River Season 7 coming out?
Season 7 of Virgin River will drop on Thursday, March 12, and consist of 10 episodes.
Across its first five seasons, Virgin River appeared in the Global Top 10 TV (English) list for 25 weeks since the weekly top 10 lists started in 2021. Season 5 reached the top 10 in 77 countries.
The sixth season dropped on December 19, 2024, with all 10 episodes. After releasing a new season every year for the first six seasons, Netflix did not air new episodes of Virgin River in 2025, but fans won’t have to wait long into 2026 to see what happens next.
When did Virgin River Season 7 start filming?
Martin Henderson, aka Jack Sheridan, revealed on March 12, 2025, that Season 7 was in production. “I want to make this the best season yet for you guys,” he said in his Instagram video as he gave a shoutout to fans for all their support.
“Season 7 of #virginriver !!!!! Day 1 – here we go……!!!!” he captioned the post. “So stoked to be back at it doing what I love for all of you who love the show. Thank you @netflix for your thoughtful gifts and the continued support and thank YOU to all the fans who keep us coming back here to make this cozy, heartfelt show. It’s an honor to be putting this thing out there for y’all.”
Who will return for Virgin River Season 7?
You can expect the core cast to return for Season 7. This includes Henderson, Alexandra Breckenridge (Mel), Zibby Allen (Brie), Benjamin Hollingsworth (Brady), Tim Matheson (Doc), Annette O’Toole (Hope), Colin Lawrence (Preacher), Sarah Dugdale (Lizzie), and Kai Bradbury (Denny). Despite his health scare, Everett (John Allen Nelson) should be back as well.

What happened in Virgin River Season 6?
Mel and Jack finally said “I do” at the end of Virgin River Season 6. The couple enjoyed the wedding of their dreams, surrounded by their loved ones. However, these newlyweds will have their hands full in Season 7. In the finale, a very pregnant Marley ran to Mel and asked her to adopt her baby. She feared Darla and Phil were backing out of the adoption.
