BBC Casualty’s Barney Walsh flooded with congratulations following exciting news
Barney Walsh has received a wave of congratulations after being nominated for the Serial Drama Performance category at the National Television Awards for his role in Casualty.
He announced the nomination in a joint post with the BBC medical drama’s official Instagram account, sharing the exciting update with fans.The post included a snap of Barney in character alongside a caption which read: “Barney Walsh is longlisted for Serial Drama Performance at the #NTAs. Vote all things #Casualty..”
After seeing the announcement, fans shared in on the good news, with one writing: “Congratulations. Had my vote already!” While another added: “@barneywalsh congratulations well deserved.”
A third fan also penned: “Well deserved. Go, Barney.”

TV star Barney portrays Cameron Mickelthwaite, a character known for frequent mishaps, and first appeared in the series during its 37th season, which aired in 2023.
He previously said in a statement after joining the BBC show: “It’s been an incredible experience to join the cast of Casualty alongside Anna, Sarah, JJ and Eddie.

“It’s a real joy to come to work every day and play Cam. I can’t wait for the viewers to meet nurse Cam as he arrives at Holby and very quickly realises he might have bitten off more than he can chew!”
However, acting is nothing new for Barney, who began his television career in 2013 with a role in Law & Order: UK.
Since then, he has had roles in Doctors, Death in Paradise, and played PC Harness in ITV’s The Larkins, a reboot of The Darling Buds of May, where his father, Bradley Walsh, starred as Pop Larkin.
In addition to acting, Barney is also a television presenter. He co-hosts the BBC’s reboot of Gladiators with his father and stars alongside him in the popular ITV travel series Bradley & Barney Walsh: Breaking Dad, which recently wrapped its sixth season.
Sharing his thoughts on their father and son bond, Bradley previously shared on ITV’s This Morning: “He has always been my son, and you always take care of them.
“But then all of a sudden he becomes your equal and a work colleague, and a mate, and someone you respect.”
