Coronation Street fans are certain that David Platt is set to cheat on wife Shona in a heartbreaking twist.
David (Jack P. Shepherd) has been a staple on the soap for over two decades – making his debut in 1990. As the troublemaking son of Gail (Helen Worth), David has become a firm favourite with fans.
He’s also played a part in several big storylines too. From almost being killed by his stepfather Richard Hillman to his troubled marriages, his time in Weatherfield has not been short of drama.
Especially recently, as this week, David and pregnant wife Shona (Julia Goulding) ended up in a catastrophic crash during the epic crossover episode Corriedale.

Despite David and Shona managing to make it out alive, things took a worrying turn when Shona’s waters broke, before she was quickly transported back to Weatherfield.
There, she was forced to have complex surgery in a bid to save the life of her baby daughter, who has a mass on her neck. The surgery was successful, but amid all the drama, Shona’s estranged sister Jodie (Olivia Frances-Brown) also rocked up.
Jodie was first seen in the Corriedale episode, when it was revealed she was being held captive in a bus by Emmerdale’s Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough). Jodie managed to make an escape and was sent to the same hospital her sister Shona was also at.
After seeing her sister, Jodie lingered around the hospital for a few days and in Friday’s episode (January 9) Jodie made herself known to Shona – leaving her and David gobsmacked.
However, despite Jodie wanting to rekindle their sisterly relationship, Shona told her she wasn’t in the “right head space”. Jodie was left with tears in her eyes as Shona told her to leave her number and Shona would reach out eventually.
But now, with more drama to come, fans can’t help but think a cheating twist is on the cards for David and Jodie.
On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one person said: “Who else thinks David is going to cheat on Shona with Jodie?” Another added: “Most likely!” A third chimed in: “I think she might try it on with him, don’t think she’s genuine at all”.
