Sister Wives continues to stir controversy as Janelle Brown reveals her decision to seek a spiritual divorce from Kody Brown. After nearly 30 years of marriage, Janelle has decided to travel to Salt Lake City, Utah, to meet with the elders of Apostolic United Brethren Church to formally free herself from her relationship with Kody.
In the latest trailer, Maddie, Janelle and Kody’s daughter, cannot hide her surprise and disappointment upon hearing the news. “What the hell? Why would you do that?” Maddie exclaims in confusion as Janelle reveals her plan.
Maddie flatly opposes bringing the past back, especially regarding the polygamous marriage system which she finds “very toxic.” Janelle explained that she is no longer a member of the faith, but still respects her polygamous marriage as a formal marriage contract.
Janelle Really Wants to End the Relationship – Does Kody Really Care?
Despite deciding to follow her own path, Janelle couldn’t avoid the uncomfortable questions from her daughter. Maddie couldn’t understand why her mother wanted to “dig up the past” when everything was so clear. She worried that requesting a spiritual divorce could reopen old wounds and further damage the family.
Kody, in an interview, admitted that he wasn’t too bothered by Janelle’s request for a divorce, and he didn’t even remember what she had said about it. “Janelle may have told me she wanted to be free, but I don’t remember,” Kody said indifferently.
